dotamatic is a program that allows you to print out images across many sheets of paper, using a variety of styles for the pixels. It was inspired by The Rasterbator.
The resulting pages when placed together, typically on a wall, make what some people may even consider art. dotamatic prints directly to your printer.
This is a simple example, where each pixel is drawn using a black circle. The size of the circle is based on the brightness of the colour of the pixel. Close up it looks like black circles. From further away, it looks like art :-)
dotamatic handles splitting the images across multiple pages, and has several other ways of generating the dots.
